Valves
There are various valves fitted to your water system to allow maintenance and repair work to be carried out. Earls Court Plumbers carry out these tasks. Here are some examples:Stop Valve. This type of valve will be used on a supply that is under great pressure and will normally be the valve that isolates the water supply to your property. The location of the stop valve is mainly at entry to the houses. Gate Valve. This valve is usually found in a straight line flowing system. It is a valve that is opened by raising an internal square or round gate to allow water to flow through. It has a small wheel on the top for adjustment.Ball Valve.A valve that contains a ball shaped moving mechanism inside with a hole through it which is operated by handles or levers. When turned, the hole in the ball will fall in line with the pipework and allow water to pass. Turning the ball the other way will close the water off. This valve type is found on washing machines. An Earls Court Plumber works with all valves.TRV. (thermostatic radiator valve). This is a control valve fitted on a radiator. The TRV automatically closes off the water to the radiator once the desired temperature is achieved. Its primary function is as described above but it also saves fuel that is used to provide the heat.Lockshield.Another radiator valve, fitted at the opposite end to the TRV. Its purpose is to control water flow into the radiator. It is the same as a manual type valve except that the plastic head coverdoes not have an internal square socket to fit over the spindle of the valve. This particular type of valve is pre-adjusted by the installer with a spanner at installation.
