Corrosion Inhibitors

The addition of corrosion inhibitors to, for example your central heating system is a valid and recommended way of prolonging the overall life of the system. All plumbing merchants or suppliers will stock this product. Earls Court Plumbers recommend this action and carry out this type of maintenance. This inhibitor will perform a few actions including:Ensures that the pies for the system are lined to minimize the corrosive effects of the water.Provides a good supply of lubrication to the heating system pump.Provides a barrier against the build up of bacteria that can form in the system.A problem with this kind of treatment is that for it to have a maximum positive impact and effect it should always be introduced into the central heating system as it is installed. There are also cleaning solutions that you can purchase to assist with the internal cleaning of the pipework in your system. These type of cleaning solutions can be introduced to older systems prior to administering the corrosion inhibitor. You will need to refer to the original manufacturers data sheets for your system to really assist and guide you through the process should you wish to treat an existing system. It is quite possible that over zealous treatment of a system with theses products will expose leaks in the system that did not seem to be apparent before the treatment was administered. A central heating system, especially an older one will contain quite a lot of sludge that has built up over its life so far. This sludge, whilst being a potential cause of a blockage within the system can also have the reverse affect of masking and sealing leaks within the pipework. Inhibitors and cleaning agents introduced to the system will destroy the sludge and expose problems. An Earls Court Plumber is aware of this issue.
