Making a push fit joint in the plastic waste pipe
These type of joints are good for three reasons, they are wonderfully easy to fit, they are very slim and unobtrusive, they are very easy to dismantle if you make a mistake and you have to start all over again. Earls Court Plumbers deal with these joints.Method.1). As with all plumbing, it is very important that the pipe is always cut squarely at the end. You can achieve this by using a bladed hacksaw to make the cut. An Earls Court Plumber has the right tools.2). Remove the sharp edged burring from the cut pipe with a file, so that it is slightly tapered. This table will allow you to easily push the pipe past the seal in the joint.3). Rub a blob of Silicone grease on the type and very carefully push it into the joint, making sure that you are not entering it at an angle.Curing a leak.If you have a small leak on a push fit waste pipe, this will usually have happened because the pipe joint are not aligned. This may happen if you force the pipe to one side or up and down, either because one of the pipes is not the right length, but you have used the wrong joint. If one of the pipes is the wrong length, dismantle the pipework and fit a shorter or longer applied as required. If the pipe is no more than a few millimetres short, you can make the adjustment by pulling the pipe slightly out of the joint at each end. If the above is not the cause of the leaking joint, it may be that the seal was nipped when you assembled the joint. If this is the case you will need to dismantle the pipework and fit a new joint.
