Speed-Fit

The speed fit pipe is white and includes small blue chevrons marked around every inch along its length. The thinking is that if you cut the pipework at this mark, then the next mark is right on the edge of the fitting when it’s fully inserted. Earls Court Plumbers use speed fittings. For the system to work correctly, the plastic pipe needs a straight, clean cut and so you will you need to buy a pair of plastic pipe cutters. They are available in a range of different designs but in reality they are just glorified scissors, but very sharp. When you have made your cut, you will have to make sure that the pipe has some integral support, so that the pipework cant collapse when subject to pressure. This is done by using something called a super seal pipe insert. This is simply pushed directly into the end of the pipe.It is now ready for pushing the fitting in place. Make sure the fitting is in the unlocked position and you can see a gap between the screw-cap and the body of the fitting, not locked, where the screw-cap is tight to the fitting and there is no gap. If not unlocked just rotate the screw-cap anticlockwise until you feel resistance and see a small gap. An Earls Court Plumber can cut speed fittings. Now the fitting is unlocked, press it gently over the pipework. It is normal to feel a little resistance as the pipe finds the O-ring inside the fitting. Now with a final hard push you should feel the fitting slide into place. Visually confirm it is in correctly by checking the mark is on the pipework. Sometimes it can to push the fitting on by dampening the pipe fitting with a small amount water. Once connected the you lock can the fitting by twisting the screw-cap clockwise until there is no longer a gap between the screw and the body of the fitting. Now just give everything good tug to confirm it is connected correctly.
